Welcome to the Civil Service Examination Blog

I am Jed Tedor, a Civil Service Professional Passer and a Registered Electrical Engineer. I took the civil service professional eligibility exam when I was 21 years old, in Cagayan de Oro, Region X on a Sunday morning of July 27, 2008. It was a tiring day overall, I got knocked off in the theatre as I watched The Dark Knight, which was showing at that time. The result was released around October of the same year, I nearly forgot about the exam as I thought I had failed it. It was, after all, very very difficult. About 52,000 took and luckily I am one of the 5, 286 who passed it. It was a very a good feeling to have passed a qualifying exam. To what the exam qualifies for, I didn't know. I took the exam as a practice exam for my upcoming electrical board exam, which I took a year after.

ABOUT THIS BLOG: This Blog post will tackle about the exam process, i'll post my certificate and sample pictures here, I'll post the results and exam schedule. It will talk everything you need to know about passing the civil service examination.. Pls. follow me as I will continue on posting as the days go by. I hope this blog helps those who will take the exams for the first time and help realize the past mistakes for those who have failed it.

This is the answer key to the reviewers I have posted. Beware: This document has errors on the numbering.  I will try to review this document so It will coincide with the questions.

    hi, i saw ur uploads @ scribd. u took the 2008 csc exam right? so that was 3 years ago.. are the questions gonna be the same on the 2011 exams? i think they might be changed from time to time, so.. are ur post still accurate?.. im just asking... :) kc i find ur posts interesting, super nababaliw na ako sa pag rereview... tnx in advance if mag rreply ka.. :)

    @sherrie: The questions will not be the same but it will be very similar. Like for instance, I got two questions (yep! only two!) from word analogy that came out on the exam. It is not much if you think about the quantity of the items but these are very very difficult questions, which means, that you are on the advantage if you know the answer (to those who did not know the answers). As I said on my first post, you should make sure you got all the easy questions right, since this is what will make you pass the exam. Difficult questions will be the bonus ones that make your score higher.
    This reviewer is made before I took the exam, maybe 2-5 years before 2008, and it was still very similar.

    @aslanei: I am trying to answer the reviewers slowly.. There are updated answers for math 1 to 40 and numerical analogy. For the English, I think most answers were intact.

    yes, the answer keys must have been wrongly arranged.. I have also encountered that problem when I was practicing with the reviewer 4 years ago.. I didn't bother to look at the answer keys now when I answered the reviewer. It will only make me confuse.

    ok sir...but i have still one question. It's about the "SHADING" coz there are rumors that shading is also important..kasi nga..its the machine who checks the paper.I would like to ask if you can also give us points on how to shade properly?I know that u might think its funny but my eagerness to pass the exam manifests to ask this things...hehe

    when you shade make sure you shade the whole shape. I have tips like this posted here in the blog. When you make a mistake make sure to erase the whole carbon mark, bring a very good eraser.

    also, I recommend shading the number after you read the question, batch shading (I encountered lots of mistakes when I batched shade) so I have lots of erasure.. And be aware, there are the so-called "MARKED" answer sheets (those with unusual marks on the sheet like footsteps or unusual marks), that paper won't be feed on the machine.

    I meant, listing the answers on scratch first then transferring it to the answer sheets before the time.. Be careful with the numbering, I remembered I skipped one number and I already shaded about ten.. So I erased all ten shades.. Be careful of the numbering also, there might be two sets, vertical and horizontal numbering.. horizontal is a pain in the *ss, it is not conventional..

    You are given a scratch (2 bond papers) for your math solutions. Other personal belongings will be put under your chair or in front of the class. You can bring snacks. No watch/clocks are allowed, you'll have to ask for the time from the proctor.

      1. 36 is 6 x 6, so what is 15 x 6? Answer: 90
      2. 36 is 6 x 6, so what is 15 x 15? Answer: 225

      This is a puzzling/trick problems. The answer depends upon the choices. It is obviously 81, right? IF there is 81 in the choices.. hehe.. I would easily encircle 81 as the answer, but when you look at the choices and can't find 81, then your brains would react and get distressed.. How could this be?? The answers must be wrong!! Or did I solve it right?? (Problems like this tries to eliminate examinees who are not prepared for this kind of problems)
      Only one way to solve the problem, go back to the question, drink some water or refreshments, eat your chocolates, and try to find another possible solution..

      From the problem, another solution would be:
      (3)^2 : 9 as 9^2 : ___
      (3)^2 : (3)x3 as (9)^2 : (9)x3 = 27
      Try eliminating the choices.. and work with the answers if you can't find another solution for the problem.
